IEEE-PVSC Tutorial program

Prof. Ned Ekins-Daukes and Dr Phoebe Pearce from the School of Photovoltaic & Renewable Energy Engineering delivered the “Fundamentals of Photovoltaics” to the IEEE Photovoltaics Specialists Conference held in Seattle June 9-14th 2024. The tutorial was scheduled ahead of the main conference and aimed to provide particpants who were new to photovoltaics the background they would need to understand the technical sessions during the week. Topics covered included solar radiation, absorption of light in semiconductor materials, photovoltaic devices and mainstream technology types as well as a short introduction to the economic factors behind PV manufacturing and deployment.
